Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Service Manager to lead and develop a high-quality, person-centred supported living service for adults with learning disabilities and other needs. This role involves managing a dedicated team, ensuring compliance with CQC standards, and maintaining a culture that promotes independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Service Management
- Deliver a flexible, person-centred, and high-quality service for adults with learning disabilities and other needs.
- Support the development of Magic Life’s Supported Living services in line with organisational improvement plans.
- Ensure services are compliant with regulatory, contractual, and organisational requirements.
- Effectively manage service budgets as directed by the Director of Operations.
- Act as the service lead for safeguarding, health and safety, and CQC registration when required.
Staff Management
- Lead and motivate staff teams to deliver outstanding care and support.
- Recruit, supervise, and develop staff through training, supervisions, and team meetings.
- Promote a positive, person-centred, and empowering work culture.
- Ensure staff performance and conduct meet required standards through effective performance management.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and share best practice within the team.
Care & Support
- Ensure service users are supported to achieve their goals and maintain independence.
- Promote active involvement of service users, families, and advocates in decision-making.
- Ensure care and support plans are person-centred, up-to-date, and regularly reviewed.
- Oversee safe management of medication, health needs, and service users’ finances.
- Ensure effective safeguarding measures are in place and that all concerns are reported appropriately.
Project Administration
- Maintain quality standards and compliance with Magic Life and external regulators.
- Ensure robust health and safety practices and a high standard of working environment.
- Promote and manage customer feedback, including investigating and resolving complaints.
- Contribute to service evaluation, monitoring, and improvement processes.
- Support budget management and ensure accurate financial record-keeping.
Partnership Working
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, professionals, and partner agencies.
- Represent Magic Life positively in the community and inter-agency forums.
- Promote involvement of service users and families in service development.
Job Specification
Essential
- Experience in care provision at a level reflecting the responsibilities of the role.
- Strong understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.
- Knowledge of CQC fundamental standards and care regulations.
- Experience supervising and supporting staff.
- Administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
Desirable
- Experience as a CQC Registered Manager.
- QCF Level 5 in Health and Social Care Management or equivalent.
- Professional care or management qualification.
- Experience supporting people with Behaviours of Concern.
